STEVE CARPENTER

STEVE CARPENTER, P.E
Director of Engineering

Steve began his career in the Wireless Industry in 1997, as a member of the engineering firm ARCADIS Geraghty & Miller International. His primary responsibilities included designs, cost estimations, project and construction management. He provided structural analysis reports for over 350 wireless tower sites throughout the Southeastern United States, to determine available tower capacity, as well as designed and developed tower modification drawings to increase load carrying capacity to accommodate additional equipment. His clients included Crown Castle, American Tower Corporation, SBA, AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, Bell Atlantic Mobility, Leap Wireless/Cricket Communications and Nextel. During his time at ARCADIS, he designed and developed numerous flood control projects for the Corps of Engineers, as well as structural designs consisting of cast-in-place concrete foundations, retaining walls, pre-cast concrete roof systems, pan joint systems, and one-way and two-way slabs. Steve’s next move was to start his own company, Horizon Engineering, Inc., where he mastered his skills in the wireless arena, focusing primarily on structural analysis engineering and tower foundation designs for over 400 existing and new tower sites.

In 2006, Steve had the opportunity to join the TeleCAD Wireless team, and to work again with Chris Day. In addition to performing structural analysis of tower sites, rooftops and water tanks, his duties include engineering site design for raw land and colocation tower and rooftop sites for all nationwide and several regional wireless providers, as well as designing site grading plans, managing site drainage and developing road access with 3D visual video solutions. He is responsible for the design and detail of tower modifications drawings, mount modification drawings, and equipment modifications and upgrades. Steve utilized his talents and expertise to modify an existing flush mount manufactured by Better Metals, enabling the mount to accommodate 9 antennas as opposed to the original design of 6, that has since become part of their product line. He has also designed specific and unique mounts for water tanks.

Steve has active Professional Engineering licenses in 12 states. He is proficient in AutoCAD, STADD Pro, RISA tower software tnxTower.

Steve is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
